Accounts Team

Qualifications: Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Adviser
Responsibilities at MJH: Business Development; Business and Tax Planning
Mark qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2006 and as a Chartered Tax Adviser in 2009 and is responsible for the strategic direction of MJH by ensuring the building blocks are in place to facilitate the firm’s continual development whilst remaining loyal to its roots.
In addition to those duties, Mark has overall responsibility for the delivery of the firm’s services to clients and is particularly involved in Business and Tax planning ensuring clients don’t pay a penny more tax than they should.
Mark’s MJH story is not dissimilar from many entrepreneurs having started to work out of a spare bedroom in 2012. In February 2014, he opened the firm’s Woodplumpton Road office and recruited his first full time employee on the same day.
Over the last 10 years, Mark has expanded the MJH team to 14 members and together with them has grown the firm’s client base to over 600 forward thinking businesses and individuals.
Although challenging, Mark has remained committed to the ensuring all clients still receive the same high level of service as they did when he first set out all those years ago.
The local community is very important to Mark who ensures that MJH do their bit to support the young and under-privileged in the local area. As well as attending numerous educational and careers events each year, MJH raised over £17,500 for the Sir Tom Finney Community High School in 2021 after raising £7,500 for the Space Centre in 2019.
Outside of work, Mark maintains a very active lifestyle enjoying hiking, cycling, cricket and of course his local gym. Mark is a keen supporter of Preston North End and closely follows the fortunes (or otherwise) of the Lancashire and England cricket teams.

Responsibilities at MJH: Client Management; Financial and Management Accounts and Audit
Joe started on his accountancy path in 2009 and finally qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2018.
Since joining MJH Accountants in 2014 Joe has developed a strong relationship with the clients over the years and is now responsible for handling their day to day needs. Joe’s other responsibilities also include preparing financial and management accounts for some of the larger clients at MJH.
As one of the team leaders at MJH, Joe is responsible for reviewing his teams work and ensuring their development and training remains on track.
When not in work Joe enjoys relaxing by watching a film or new TV series or spending some time in his home gym.

Qualifications: Chartered Certified Accountant
Responsibilities at MJH: Client Management; Financial and Management Accounts; Property Accounts and Tax
Hailey has worked in General Practice for over 10 years since leaving Blackpool Sixth Form College. Hailey’s first experience of Accountancy came at a small firm in Blackpool which specialised in property accounts where she successfully completed her AAT qualification obtaining first time passes in all modules.
Following her success at AAT, Hailey went on to study for and in 2019 qualify as a Chartered Certified Accountant, a feat of which she was very proud.
After spending 8 years at the firm, Hailey went on to work at a large regional practice where she enjoyed working with much larger business clients and on statutory audits.
However, in 2020, Hailey took the opportunity to take on a new role and joined MJH as an Account Manager.
Hailey manages one of the Accounting teams here and is responsible for a large portfolio of small and medium-sized businesses and charities preparing their annual accounts and tax returns, ensuring their business needs are fulfilled and guaranteeing that their deadlines are met at Companies House and HMRC.
Hailey also prepares monthly and quarterly accounts for certain clients and works with those business owners to help them plan for the future and ultimately grow their businesses.
It is this area of work that Hailey particularly enjoys as she feels that she can have a real impact of the lives of the business owners and their employees.
Outside of work, Hailey enjoys figure skating, having competed in the British Championships and going to the gym in her spare time.

Qualifications: Chartered Accountant and First Class, Honours Degree in Accountancy and Finance
Responsibilities at MJH: Financial and Management Accounts and VAT
Jayan first began his journey with MJH after being successful in gaining a week’s work experience with the firm. He officially joined the MJH team in November 2019 on an initial three-month work placement before travelling across south east Asia for two months.
In his first year at the company his roles consisted of completing sole trader accounts and bookkeeping for VAT returns. He developed close relationships with his associated clients and ensured their needs are satisfied.
Jayan is in his second year at the firm and has seen his roles and responsibilities increase in level to match his progression in his ACA qualification. He is now dealing with small to medium sized limited companies and prepares and submits VAT returns for his own team.
Jayan is now three quarters way through his studies and his hoping to be exam qualified by the end of 2022. After completing his ACA qualification, he hopes to become Tax qualified.
Outside of work, Jayan maintains an active lifestyle by playing for a 11 a side men’s Sunday league football and going to the gym. Jayan is a keen supporter of Liverpool FC and enjoys watching movies, travelling and spending time with family.

Qualifications: AAT Level 3
Responsibilities at MJH: Financial Accounts; VAT and Bookkeeping
James joined MJH in August 2020 and is currently studying through his AAT Qualifications and hoping to later move onto ACA.
Some of the jobs that James does here include bookkeeping for clients, submitting VAT returns and preparing final accounts for sole traders, partnerships and Limited Companies.
James is a keen sportsman who enjoys playing Football, Golf and Tennis as well going to Anfield every week to watch Liverpool.

Qualifications: GCSE / BTEC
Responsibilities at MJH: Financial Accounts and Bookkeeping
Callum joined MJH in August 2021 and is currently studying for his Level 3 AAT qualification at Runshaw College.
After completing his level three qualification Callum is hoping to further his education by moving on to study level four AAT and ACA in the future.
His main responsibilities include the preparation and completion of sole trader and partnership accounts.
Being an apprentice, he is keen to learn and quickly adapted to the workplace having already earned his Xero and QuickBooks certifications.
At home Callum enjoys gaming with friends, spending time with family and walking his dog around the local reservoir.

Qualifications: AAT Level 4
Responsibilities at MJH: Financial Accounts; VAT and Payroll
Olivia joined MJH in 2018, starting her AAT apprenticeship straight after finishing high school. She qualified as a full AAT member in 2021 and has recently started working towards her Level 7 Chartered Accountancy qualification.
Day to day, Olivia mainly prepares financial accounts and VAT returns for many of the firm’s clients, as well as occasionally providing assistance to the payroll department.
Outside of work, Olivia pursues a number of hobbies, particularly modern and commercial dancing, which she has loved for many years. Contrastingly, Olivia also enjoys the Great British Outdoors including angling and hiking.

Qualifications: GCSE / BTEC
Responsibilities at MJH:Financial Accounts and Bookkeeping
Ellie joined MJH Accountants in 2021 as a trainee accountant and is progressing in her career with her first year of studies at AAT level 3. On a day-to-day basis she assists with sole trader accounts, personal tax returns and payroll.
She has taken to her new role in accountancy very smoothly and is enjoying building new client relationships. In her previous role she had excelled in customer service and is always very polite and helpful on the end of the phone.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with friends, travelling and experiencing new cultures
Tax & Support Team

Qualifications: ATT (Fellow)
Responsibilities at MJH: Personal tax advice and compliance; Company Secretarial Executive
After ten years out of practice to have her family, Pauline joined Mark’s team in July 2017 in a part time capacity and has gradually grown the role to become tax manager.
Pauline has a lifelong love of music and theatre having been involved in many plays, musicals and pantomimes and is an award winning musical director and actress.
She is also a trustee for a local youth theatre group and ran a community group for new mothers for 11 years.
Pauline spends her free time with her family, reading and going to theatre.

Responsibilities at MJH: Payroll and Auto-enrolment pension compliance
Vikki has been responsible for our clients’ payroll accounts since January 2019.
In addition to this, she also deals with clients’ pension compliance.
Outside of work, she enjoys visiting new places to understand their culture and recreating dishes she has had while abroad at home for her family.

Qualifications: Red Cross Certificate in Emergency Life Support
Responsibilities at MJH: Administration duties, Client satisfaction, Assisting the Accountants and the MD, Event Planning
Cindy joined MJH in October 2018 and has been the face and voice of MJH ever since as our Client Relationship Manager. Cindy has numerous qualifications including a diploma in making Coffee. Cindy has a wide spectrum within her role including event planning for our company which includes our annual charity ball, where we currently raised over £17,000.00.
Outside of the business Cindy has 3 teenage daughters and a cocker tsu puppy that keeps her busy. You will often find Cindy’s nose in a good book which will keep her entertained for hours if left alone. As well as reading Cindy is an amazing baker that even Mark our MD will attest too!
